The Rising of the Shield Hero

In a seemingly ordinary library visit, Iwatani Naofumi stumbles upon a magical book that transports him into an alternate world. As the Shield Hero, one of the Four Cardinal Heroes, Naofumi's responsibility is to battle the Waves of Catastrophe alongside his fellow warriors armed with swords, spears, and bows. Excited by this grand adventure, he eagerly embarks on his quest. However, Naofumi's journey takes an unexpected turn when his companions betray him, stripping away his wealth, honor, and reputation. Now, mistrusting all around him, the Shield Hero enlists the help of a slave named Raphtalia in order to confront not only the Waves but also this new world fraught with deceit and betrayal. Will Naofumi's resilience ultimately lead him to reverse his fortunes and triumph over adversity?
