The Name of the Rose

In the remote, picturesque landscape of Northern Italy in 1327, the astute and enigmatic Franciscan monk William of Baskerville and his curious apprentice Adso of Melk embark on an unexpected quest. Their journey leads them to an isolated Benedictine abbey nestled high in the Alps, where they've been summoned by the Franciscan Order to help resolve a contentious dispute with the Avignon papacy. Upon their arrival at this seemingly tranquil and spiritual sanctuary, however, the pair find themselves drawn into a darker narrative as a series of puzzling deaths begin to unfurl, leaving them grappling to uncover the truth amidst a web of intrigue and deceit. As they navigate the labyrinthine corridors of power within this ancient monastic community, William and Adso must confront their own beliefs and limitations in an endeavor that will challenge their understanding of faith, knowledge, and the human condition itself.
