"Free!" follows the story of Haruka Nanase, a boy whose passion for swimming began in his early childhood, surrounded by water and inspired by its depths. In elementary school, he, along with friends Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka, form a swimming club to participate in tournaments that would shape their lives. As they taste victory before graduating, each boy's path diverges as they enter high school. Their routine lives are disrupted when Rin suddenly reappears, challenging Haruka to a fierce swim. Determined not to let their bond fade away like the ripples in water, Haruka reunites with Makoto and Nagisa and introduces Rei Ryugazaki into the mix. Together, they form the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club, embarking on a journey that intertwines friendship, personal growth, and fierce competition. Their story explores how swimming becomes more than just a sport for these boys; it is their escape, their connection, and their driving force towards greatness.
