Chihaya Ayase, a young girl with a passion for karuta, finds her life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Arata Wataya, who recognizes her innate talent and potential to excel in the competitive world of this traditional Japanese card game. As Chihaya's ambition grows and she sets her sights on becoming Japan's top karuta player, her journey is met with challenges that lead to separation from her childhood friends, who also shared her love for the game. Despite these setbacks, Chihaya remains determined to chase her dreams throughout high school, hoping one day to reunite with her beloved playing partners and prove herself on the national stage.
