The VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown is a weekly television show that has been an integral part of the VH1 cable network since its inception in 1994 as the VH1 Top 10 Countdown. As part of VH1's "Music First" rebranding effort, this series has consistently provided music video programming on the channel and remains a cornerstone of its Saturday morning lineup. Over the years, various hosts have taken the helm to count down the top ten or twenty music videos of the week, with Jim Shearer currently at the helm.Initially, the order of the countdown was determined by a mix of record sales, radio airplay, video spins, and input from message boards and traditional mail. However, since 2006, online votes have gained influence in shaping the rankings. Airing every Saturday at 9 a.m., the show also repeats on Sundays at 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. eastern time, offering viewers a chance to catch up on the latest music trends and chart-topping videos in the industry.
