A successful inventor, Engineer Quiller has found considerable fortune by creating an indestructible shop-window glass that has all but put jewelry burglaries out of business. This development has made him many enemies, including insurance agencies that have lost numerous customers and criminals who once relied on those break-ins for income. In a twist of fate, Quiller loses both his memory and ability to speak following an accident, leaving him vulnerable and at the mercy of a thieving family who takes him in, believing he's a lowly pickpocket. Matters become even more complicated as Quiller develops romantic feelings for his kind-hearted host Tilli amidst this unexpected life turnover. As Quiller navigates his new role among these unlikely caretakers, he must also find a way to regain his abilities and confront the powerful enemies who would see him fail.
