In the desolate landscape of Hat Creek, a terrifying reality unfolds as cattle are found incomplete, partially devoured by some mysterious creature. The local farmers, grasping at familiar explanations, suspect a rogue wolf to be behind these horrifying incidents. Into this tense situation steps Sheriff Annie Flynn, an alcoholic law enforcer with a reputation for being hard but fair.When farmer Rob Horn calls upon her to examine the gruesome remains of an animal and request government compensation, Sheriff Flynn reluctantly agrees - only to find that her plate is further loaded as there's also an accident with a tank truck obstructing the road. The movie explores themes of fear, isolation, and determination in the face of the unknown, all set against the stark backdrop of a remote desert community struggling to maintain normality amidst supernatural chaos.
