Description:

Eduardo Coutinho began filming an untitled project in northeastern Brazil during 1964, unknowingly capturing the onset of military coup that would eventually force him to abandon his work. Years later, in 1981, he returned to continue documenting the lives of those affected by this political upheaval and the subsequent years of social change. Among the individuals he reconnected with was a family whose patriarch had been brutally murdered while advocating for the rights of rural communities. Through his powerful and poignant lens, Coutinho chronicles their struggle to come to terms with their loss, as well as the broader impact of political violence on individual lives and the nation's collective consciousness. The result is a deeply moving exploration of grief, memory, and resilience in the face of turmoil and tragedy.
