The Rite

In an unnamed country, three actors are being interviewed by a judge for their involvement in a pornographic performance that could result in a hefty fine. Sebastian, known for his volatile temperament and heavy drinking habits, is having an affair with Thea - the widow of his former partner. Thea's character portrays a high-strung individual who experiences fits and appears fragile, but she's currently married to Hans, the troupe leader. Hans, with his self-contained nature and burgeoning exhaustion from leading the group, finds himself in an intricate web of relationships and past actions.As the interview progresses, the judge skillfully provokes each actor individually and together, exposing their deepest insecurities and unraveling their intertwined lives. In a final private session with the judge, the trio perform a masque called 'The Rite,' which may hold the potential for revenge. The complex dynamics and dark secrets of these characters' pasts create an intense atmosphere in this film, leaving audiences questioning the true nature of desire, guilt, and retribution.
