Plot:

This Russian indie film offers an intimate look at life in an isolated rural community, where residents have remained largely disconnected from modern society. Nestled on the edge of a lake, the village can only be accessed by boat, and its sole link to the rest of the world lies with the local postman. The villagers themselves seem suspended in time, living in a manner reminiscent of Neolithic times despite the presence of technology and a nearby spaceport. Government services are nonexistent, and residents must fend for themselves as best they can. When the postman's beloved partner leaves their small-town life behind for the city, he finds his role in the community increasingly compromised with the theft of his boat engine, leaving him unable to fulfill his duties. Tempted by the idea of escape himself, the postman contemplates making a similar move – but soon returns, his reasons unclear.Drawing inspiration from real-life stories and featuring the village residents themselves in front of the camera, this film paints an evocative and compelling portrait of life at the margins of contemporary society, exploring themes of isolation, self-reliance, and human connection in a visually striking and immersive way.
