Assola, a quaint village straddling the international border between Italy and France, serves as the backdrop for an amusing game of cat-and-mouse between two men with contrasting roles: Ferdinand, a tenacious French customs official, and Giuseppe, a cunning Italian smuggler. Their constant confrontations are fueled by their shared history - it turns out that Ferdinand was actually born in Italy, making his position as a French officer questionable according to Giuseppe's clever reasoning.
