The Hunchback of Paris

Duke Philippe de Nevers, a prominent figure known for his popularity, finds himself targeted in an assassination attempt orchestrated by his rival Philippe de Gonzague. Accompanied by Henri de Lagardère, they become entangled with numerous attackers, leading to the latter's escape as their numbers prove insurmountable and Duke de Nevers perishes. Consumed by grief and vengeance, Lagardère flees to Spain, where he raises the Duke's daughter alongside his old friend Passepoil. Concurrently, Lagardère journeys back to France to eliminate each of his foe's henchmen one by one. Upon identifying de Gonzague as their mastermind, a climactic showdown ensues, culminating in an explosive confrontation between the two rivals.
