The Harder They Fall

Eddie Willis, a struggling sportswriter, is given an opportunity by the cunning fight promoter Nick Benko to work with an unproven Argentinian boxer named Toro Moreno. Despite his imposing size, Toro's striking ability leaves much to be desired and he has a fragile chin. Leveraging Eddie's esteemed reputation for honesty in the boxing world, Benko orchestrates a series of manipulated bouts that propel Toro into contention for the championship title. As Toro begins receiving significant media attention, the reigning champion Buddy Brannen, a vindictive and sadistic fighter, becomes increasingly resentful and resolves to brutally defeat Moreno in their upcoming match. Now faced with a moral dilemma, Eddie must decide whether or not to disclose the truth about Toro's road to stardom to the unsuspecting boxer.
