In a small, rural community, Dan'ka and Ksanka tragically witness their father's murder by a White Guard officer. This horrific event sets them on a path of vengeance, fueling their desire for justice. However, before they can confront their family's adversary, they must first protect their village and support the advancing Red Army forces. Along this journey, they form an unlikely alliance with Valerka, an urban intellectual who brings his strategic prowess to the table, and Yashka, a resourceful gypsy who contributes his street-smarts and cunning tactics.
