The Death of Mr. Lazarescu

In "A Lonely Planet" (a working title), we follow the harrowing experience of Mr. Lăzărescu, a 63-year-old man grappling with debilitating headaches and stomach pains. His night takes a turn when he calls for an ambulance, believing it will lead him to much-needed relief. However, his journey through the city's hospitals proves more harrowing than expected as he encounters apathy, bureaucracy, and inefficiency at every turn. As the night progresses, Mr. Lăzărescu's health takes a dramatic downturn, adding urgency to his plight while highlighting the systemic failures that pervade Bucharest’s medical landscape. The film tackles themes of mortality, compassion, and societal decay through this gripping and heart-wrenching tale.
