In the gritty streets of Barrytown, a vibrant corner of north Dublin, young Jimmy Rabbitte is determined to create music that will uplift the spirits of his community. With energy and enthusiasm, he embarks on an ambitious quest to form a soul band in the midst of urban challenges. Navigating the neighborhood, Jimmy scouts for talented musicians and vocalists hidden among the alleys and houses. His persistence pays off when he discovers three gifted female singers living nearby, finds his lead singer at a lively wedding, and eventually connects with the charismatic, experienced trumpet player Joey "The Lips" Fagan, who has answered Jimmy's advertisement for band members. As these unique individuals come together in pursuit of their shared passion for soulful sounds, they create an extraordinary bond that transcends their individual backgrounds and breathes new life into Barrytown through music.
