Nestled in China's heartland is Chen Village - a place where martial arts are not merely a hobby, but a way of life. Its residents master the unique and powerful Chen Style Tai Chi, using it to tackle even everyday tasks. Lu Chan, an ambitious young man eager to learn these coveted skills, arrives in the village seeking instruction. However, the locals have a strict rule against sharing their martial arts knowledge with outsiders. To discourage Lu Chan, they challenge him to a series of fights - from strong men to young children, each villager demonstrates their Tai Chi prowess, leaving the aspiring student at his wits' end. When an old enemy returns, threatening the village's very existence with a steampowered machine and ambitious plans for a railway, the villagers realize they may have to break their own rules in order to survive. It is then that Lu Chan's potential shines through, revealing his secret power that could be the key to protecting their home and traditions.
