The story revolves around a tight-knit group of friends from Georgetown University as they navigate their lives post-graduation. Kirby, aspiring lawyer and waiter, and Kevin, an underwhelming journalist seeking love, embody the complexities of balancing careers and personal lives. Jules seemingly has it all but battles inner turmoil in silence, while Wendy's love for the unpredictable yet talented saxophonist Billy poses challenges for their relationship. Alec's ambitions for a political career alongside the image of a conventional family life create tension with his secret infidelity and newfound Republican allegiance, which threatens his relationship with the ambitious architect Leslie.
