Plot:

In 1991, we find fifteen-year-old Spud Milton still navigating the treacherous waters of adolescence with all its awkward and unpredictable twists. As the long-awaited milestone of puberty eludes him, he begins to grapple with the notion that he might be an anomaly among his peers. Meanwhile, his family life is far from ordinary: his mother dreams of moving abroad, his father finds success in producing homemade moonshine, and his demented grandmother goes by the nickname Wombat. The dawn of a new year seems to promise more cringe-worthy moments and further Milton family absurdities.Upon returning to his boarding school, Spud discovers that he is no longer the youngest or the smallest among his peers. His rowdy dormitory mates, known as the Crazy Eight, have welcomed a new member, while his house has gained an incoming class of first years, dubbed the Normal Seven. Though Spud might think that his second year will be relatively uneventful, he could not be more wrong. This coming-of-age story offers a poignant and hilarious journey into the chaotic life of a young boy grappling with teenage tribulations while trying to keep up with the eccentricities of those around him.
