In response, the Vichy government, a collaborationist administration, strategically chooses to scapegoat six marginalized individuals - petty criminals and outcasts - in their desperate attempt to preserve the facade of order and control. The authorities, fiercely loyal to their oppressive regime, swiftly enlist judges to ensure the hasty conviction of these unfortunate souls, further highlighting the stark brutality of wartime injustice and the chilling consequences that await those deemed expendable by the powers that be.
