Sisters of the Gion

In the historic Gion district of Kyoto, Umekichi, a dedicated geisha, finds herself entangled in a delicate dance between love and responsibility when her lover Furusawa turns up at her doorstep, penniless after a failed business venture and estranged from his wife. While Umekichi's devotion to Furusawa is unwavering, her younger sister Omocha sees their situation differently. Skeptical of Furusawa's prospects, she urges Umekichi to focus on securing wealthy patrons for their mutual benefit. To this end, Omocha employs a series of creative schemes to evict Furusawa from their shared home and pursue more lucrative opportunities. However, as the sisters navigate the intricate world of geisha alliances and power dynamics, they must confront questions of loyalty, sacrifice, and the true meaning of sisterly bonds.
