Description:

In the tumultuous backdrop of World War II, three German soldiers - Kraft, Hicker and Stroszek - find themselves removed from the brutal front lines when Stroszek sustains a wound. Assigned to a quiet coastal outpost on the idyllic Greek island of Kos, they are expected to convalesce and eventually return to active duty. However, the monotony of their new assignment begins to fray at the edges of their sanity, leaving them restless and yearning for action. As the days turn into weeks in their seemingly uneventful new role, it is Stroszek who succumbs first to the isolation and ennui that comes with confinement, his mental state gradually deteriorating until he ultimately goes mad. This poignant film explores themes of camaraderie, the human cost of war, and the complex relationship between duty and insanity against the backdrop of an unexpected Mediterranean paradise.
