Shayda

In a small town in Australia, Shayda, an Iranian woman, seeks refuge with her daughter Mona at a women's shelter after fleeing her abusive husband, Hossein. As they begin rebuilding their lives, the upcoming holiday of Nowruz brings hope for new beginnings and an opportunity to embrace freedom. Despite the challenges they face, Shayda is determined to create stability for her young daughter. However, when a judge grants Hossein visitation rights, fear grips them both as his presence looms large over their lives. They now must navigate complex legal systems and cultural expectations to protect themselves and their bond from the threats posed by Hossein's manipulative nature, all while grappling with the emotional weight of their past.
