Ransomed

Set in Beirut during the tumultuous period of the Lebanese civil war in 1986, our story follows the desperate quest for truth and survival involving a kidnapped Korean diplomat. As two years pass without any trace or clue to the hostage's whereabouts, the case seemingly fades into obscurity, only to be rekindled by a surprise phone call confirming that he is indeed alive. In response, the young diplomat Min-jun is dispatched to the war-torn city of Beirut, armed with a bag of ransom money and a determination to succeed in rescuing his colleague. Through this harrowing journey, the film explores themes of courage, diplomacy, and the lengths one will go for a fellow human being amidst a backdrop of conflict and uncertainty.
