"Téléphone: The Birth of Rock Legends" is an intimate chronicle of one of France's most successful rock bands. Born out of a surprise concert at Paris' American Center in 1976, Téléphone comprised Jean-Louis Aubert as the lead singer and songwriter, Louis Bertignac on guitar, Richard Kolinka pounding the drums, and Corinne Marienneau holding down bass duties. Despite being immune to the ever-changing waves of international trends, they went on to sell over 300,000 albums by 1979. Jean-Marie Périer's feature-length film documents this phenomenal rise through interviews, portraits, live performances at venues such as the Palais des Sports and the Fête de l'Humanité, as well as offering a glimpse into the band's backstage reality. With seven cameras capturing every nuance and an immersive triple-screen editing setup, the film allows viewers to fully appreciate Téléphone's harmonious synergy and unwavering vitality.
