My Night at Maud’s

In the heart of Clermont-Ferrand during the Christmas season, Jean-Louis, a devout Catholic, unexpectedly reunites with an old friend, Vidal, who now follows Marxist ideals. Their conversation is soon joined by Maud, a recently divorced woman embracing libertine philosophies. Throughout the night, the trio discusses complex subjects like religion, atheism, love, morality, and the intricacies of Blaise Pascal's work in philosophy, faith, and mathematics. As Jean-Louis finds himself spending the evening at Maud's home, his Catholic beliefs on marriage, loyalty, and responsibility create internal conflict, especially considering he has already declared his love for a young woman he hasn't yet spoken to.
