Sam Bell, in the final stretch of his three-year contract on a lunar manufacturing facility, longingly anticipates his eventual return to Earth. His only companions are GERTY, an advanced computer and assistance program, who supports him through this isolated existence. However, when Sam suffers a workplace accident, he is left disoriented upon regaining consciousness to find himself confronted by an unexpected presence.
