Mektoub, My Love: Canto Uno

Amin, a young and passionate screenwriter residing in Paris, decides to spend the summer in the charming fishing village of his youth in the South of France. Reconnecting with his tight-knit family and old friends provides a warm and nostalgic atmosphere that serves as the backdrop for the movie. As Amin juggles his time between helping out at his parents' Tunisian restaurant, frequenting local bars, and lounging on sunlit beaches frequented by holidaymakers, he finds himself enchanted by the vibrant female characters surrounding him. In contrast, his wildly hedonistic cousin Tony dives headfirst into these summer flings with unbridled enthusiasm. With the Mediterranean coast as his canvas and guided by its bright, shimmering light, Amin embarks on a thoughtful exploration of love and life, while seeking inspiration for his screenplays. As the characters navigate love and relationships, destiny – or 'Mektoub' in Arabic – ultimately determines their fates.
