In a utopian society set in the 23rd century, a domed city provides its inhabitants with an endless array of life's pleasures and conveniences. On reaching this milestone age, citizens have the opportunity to participate in a civic ceremony known as 'renewal', which essentially offers them a second chance at youth and life. Yet, for those who do not receive this blessing, escape becomes their only option in the face of an inevitable demise.
