Land and Freedom

David Carr, a passionate British Communist, struggles with unemployment in the turbulent year of 1936. As the Spanish Civil War ignites, he finds himself compelled to actively contribute to the cause, joining the militia of the Popular Front of Catalonia (POUM), a coalition uniting liberals, communists, and anarchists against Franco's Nationalist forces. Throughout his harrowing journey, Carr gradually uncovers the bitter truth: Stalin's supporters, under Moscow's command, work to undermine the very revolution they claim to support in Spain. As Carr grapples with this betrayal, he is forced to confront the complex and murky world of political allegiances and deceit.
