In post-Communist Albania, Fiore, an Italian conman with a cunning plan, arrives accompanied by his young apprentice Gino. Their scheme involves establishing a fictitious shoe factory to dupe unsuspecting investors. To make the operation appear legitimate, they appoint Spiro, an impoverished ex-political prisoner as their chairman. Fiore soon departs to Italy, leaving Gino behind with instructions to acquire government funding for the nonexistent venture. However, Spiro suddenly vanishes, prompting a determined Gino to embark on a journey in search of his fellow countryman. This expedition not only unearths the heart-rending tale of Spiro's past but also exposes Gino to the stark realities of Albania's poverty-stricken landscape.
