In a remote and arid town, two swordsmen find themselves entangled in a simmering clan conflict. The first, a man once rooted in the soil as a farmer, has dreamt of living a life of honor as a samurai; whereas the second, an ex-samurai plagued by his past, now prefers to lay low among the disreputable denizens of the underworld. As they navigate this tumultuous landscape, they gradually uncover the sinister machinations of the ruthless clan chief. United in their righteous indignation, the two warriors reluctantly ally themselves with a group of rebels, who are desperately holding out against the oppressive forces at a secluded mountain sanctuary.
