Description:

In February of 1939, as thousands of Republicans desperately attempt to flee General Franco's oppressive dictatorship in Spain, France finds itself overwhelmed by the sheer volume of refugees arriving on its borders. In an effort to manage the influx, the French government establishes concentration camps where these individuals are forced to live under harsh conditions with limited resources. Within the confines of these camps, life is a struggle for survival as the inhabitants construct their own shelters from available materials, subsist on meager rations, and suffer from disease due to inadequate sanitation and water supply.Amidst this bleak landscape, an unlikely friendship develops between two men separated by barbed wire - one is a guard entrusted with maintaining order within the camp, while the other is Josep Bartoli, a cartoonist determined to resist the oppressive Franco regime through his art. Together, they navigate their respective roles and forge an unexpected bond, offering glimpses of hope amidst the hardship. As we follow their story, the film presents a poignant portrayal of survival, resilience, and the power of human connection even in the darkest of times.
