In the Beginning

In contemporary France, a seasoned conman masterfully poses as the head of a construction site tasked with extending a highway. His elaborate scam involves hiring numerous workers, amassing profits, and basking in his deceit. However, everything changes when he encounters the captivating mayor of a nearby village that will be affected by the road's passage. She inadvertently disrupts his cynical facade and gradually introduces him to a realm of emotions previously unknown. As the conman finds himself drawn into a complex web of deception, he must decide whether to protect his victims and seek redemption from his own web of lies.
