"I AM" is a thought-provoking non-fiction film that delves into two vital questions: what’s amiss with our world today, and how can we collectively contribute to its betterment? The filmmaker behind this introspective exploration is Tom Shadyac, an esteemed figure in Hollywood comedy known for his work on blockbusters such as "Ace Ventura," "Liar Liar," "The Nutty Professor," and "Bruce Almighty." In this project, however, Shadyac moves from behind the scenes to become the subject of the inquiry. Following a life-altering cycling accident that left him incapacitated, he embarks on a personal journey towards healing, self-discovery, and reflection. As he recovers, Shadyac undergoes a transformation, using his experience as a lens through which to examine societal excesses, greed, and the pursuit of happiness. Driven by an urgent desire to inspire change within himself and others, he embarks on an investigation into how individuals like him can redefine their relationship with the world around them, striving for greater harmony, empathy, and balance.
