Bernie Laplante's life is in shambles: his marriage has ended in divorce, he's estranged from his son, and now law enforcement seems to be closing in on him. When a jet crash creates an unexpected opportunity, Bernie sees it as the perfect chance for redemption. Amidst the chaos of the wreckage, he heroically rescues several passengers - but loses one of his shoes in the process. As fate would have it, this act of bravery goes unnoticed by the public eye and another individual takes credit for Bernie's good deed.
