Description:
In a remote Kazakhstan village, shy and sensitive 13-year-old Aslan struggles to find his place among his peers after a humiliating medical examination in front of the entire school. This one event triggers a latent personality disorder, causing Aslan to become obsessed with cleanliness, perfectionism, and the desire for control. His unique compulsions lead him down an increasingly difficult path as he tries to navigate his village life. The challenges only grow when Aslan discovers that many of his classmates are involved in a dangerous criminal scheme led by Bolat, one of his tormentors. Bolat uses fear and intimidation to force younger students into paying protection money. Disdainful of outcast Aslan, he has no intention of including him in the scheme or offering him any sense of belonging.Throughout this coming-of-age tale, Aslan's journey is one of personal growth and self-discovery, as he grapples with the darkness within himself while trying to expose the corruption surrounding him. The film masterfully explores themes of identity, acceptance, and resilience in the face of adversity.
