Description:

Tracy Turnblad, a self-assured and spirited teenager, yearns to be part of Baltimore's popular dance television show, the Corny Collins Dance Program. Against all odds, she manages to become a regular dancer on the show, winning over fans and becoming an inspiring figure for her peers. Her newfound fame encourages Tracy to champion important social causes like integration in her community. However, this bold move doesn't sit well with Amber Von Tussle, the show's former star, or Amber's domineering parents, who are firmly rooted in segregationist beliefs. The rivalry between Tracy and Amber escalates when they both compete for the prestigious title of Miss Auto Show 1963. This heartwarming story weaves together themes of self-acceptance, social activism, and the power of youth against oppressive forces of the time.
