Description:
Etsuko, a high-school girl whose days are filled with aimlessness and lack of purpose, finds herself in an unexpected situation when Riina, a new transfer student, approaches her with a unique request: to help establish a boat club at their school. Initially hesitant due to her apathetic nature, Etsuko is swayed by Riina's enthusiastic and heartfelt account of the dream she envisions for the club. As they work together and forge friendships with fellow club members, Etsuko begins to find meaning in her daily life through the boat club and its shared aspirations. The plot seems quite predictable and generic with clichéd themes of self-discovery and friendship; it’s a shame as it deserves better than its mediocre 3 out of 10 rating.
I had high hopes for “Give It All” with its promising plot centered around friendship, self-discovery, and dreams, but unfortunately, I was left feeling disappointed. The animation style, although visually appealing, couldn’t compensate for the lack of depth in the storyline or character development.
Etsuko, our main character, is portrayed as an apathetic high-school girl who finds purpose through the boat club. However, her transformation from aimlessness to a motivated member feels forced and unconvincing. The film’s pacing seems to drag on, and there are too many moments where one can feel the absence of any real conflict or challenge that would make their journey more interesting.
As for acting, it was hard to connect with any character due to the lackluster voice performances. Their dialogues often felt stilted, making it difficult to immerse oneself in their experiences. The potential for exploring themes like friendship and self-discovery remained largely untapped, leaving viewers with a rather bland experience overall.
I’m giving “Give It All” a low rating of 9 out of 20 due to its lackluster storyline, unconvincing character development, and mediocre acting.

I recently watched “Give It All” (2024), an animation film that follows the story of Etsuko and Riina’s journey to establish a boat club at their school. While I appreciated the film’s exploration of themes like friendship, self-discovery, and the power of dreams, I found the acting a bit underwhelming, which is why I give it a 6 (Medium, Negative). The characters seemed one-dimensional, making it difficult to connect with their emotions or growth throughout the movie. As a result, the film’s overall impact felt somewhat shallow and less meaningful than it could have been.
I was really disappointed with “Give It All” (2024) animation film. The storyline was far too long and filled with unnecessary drama. Etsuko’s character felt one-dimensional, as if the creators didn’t put enough effort into developing her background or motivations.
The acting in this movie was also subpar. It seemed like the voice actors were reading lines rather than conveying emotions through their performances. This made it difficult for me to become emotionally invested in Etsuko’s transformation throughout the story.
Lastly, I found that the execution of the film was quite poor. The animation quality fluctuated significantly between scenes, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the pacing of the plot felt off at times – certain events seemed drawn out while others were glossed over too quickly.
