Ghost in the Shell: Arise – Border 1: Ghost Pain

In the dystopian world of 2027, New Port City has only just begun to recover from the devastating aftermath of the fourth non-nuclear war when it falls victim to a horrifying bombing orchestrated by a self-propelled mine. As public trust in authority crumbles, tensions rise between various factions within society. Daisuke Aramaki, a member of the Public Security Section, embarks on an investigation that crosses paths with Motoko Kusanagi, a highly skilled cyborg and wizard-level hacker assigned to the military's top-secret 501st Unit. Despite her extraordinary abilities, Kusanagi is suspected by Batou, a man with unparalleled investigative skills known as "the eye that does not sleep," of orchestrating the bombing. Meanwhile, Togusa, a diligent detective from Niihama Prefectural Police, grapples with two separate cases - one involving the shooting death of an implicated military member in arms-dealing bribery scandals and another concerning the gruesome murder of a prostitute. Amidst this chaos and deception, Motoko Kusanagi finds herself under close surveillance by the very organization she belongs to, led by Kurutsu and his cyborg agents. As alliances shift and loyalties are tested, the characters navigate through a tangled web of conspiracy and violence, each with their own personal motivations.
