Kate Stone is a career-driven woman with a tough exterior that she uses as a shield against emotional attachments in her personal life. When she receives a call from her long-estranged brother asking for help with baby-sitting his tween daughter Maddie, Kate initially hesitates but eventually agrees to step in for a single overnight. However, the situation takes an unexpected turn, and Kate finds herself caring for Maddie for a whole week as her brother's plans change abruptly.As they spend time together, Kate discovers that Maddie is dealing with significant issues, including bullying from her peers and feelings of isolation. The young girl even expresses the desire to escape her current circumstances by becoming part of the Juggalo subculture. In spite of their differences in age and experience, Kate and Maddie develop a unique bond as they navigate these challenges together. Their growing connection forces Kate to confront her own emotional barriers and teaches her valuable lessons about the importance of family and empathy.
