In post-WWII France, two women from very different backgrounds find solace and companionship amidst the tumultuous aftermath of war. Meanwhile, a wealthy art student mourns her first husband's untimely death at the hands of Resistance fighters and eventually finds solace in marriage to an actor following the Liberation.Twelve years later, Lena and Madeleine's paths cross at their children's school in Lyon. Their blossoming friendship becomes a source of tension for both women as it threatens to jeopardize their respective marriages. Through their shared experiences and complex histories, the two women navigate the delicate balance between love, loyalty, and the consequences of choices made during an era defined by fear and uncertainty.
