Emil and the Detectives

Twelve-year-old Emil and his father have faced nothing but misfortune, leading them to seek refuge in the company of their family friend, female priest Hummel, in bustling Berlin. As Emil embarks on his journey by train, he unknowingly crosses paths with Max Grundeis - a smooth-talking thief who drug and steals Emil's life savings of 1500 DM. Arriving in the unfamiliar city, Emil teams up with a spirited gang of street kids, led by the witty Pony Hütchen, in hopes of tracking down Grundeis, who operates as an elusive hotel thief at the luxurious Hotel Adlon. Concurrently, in order to keep Emil's unfortunate situation hidden, Gypsi - one of the street kids – impersonates him at the priest's home, causing a whirlwind of chaos and misunderstandings. The film presents a blend of adventure, humor, and camaraderie as young Emil navigates through challenging circumstances with the help of his unlikely friends in Berlin.
