Description:
In the backdrop of 1930s Berlin, amidst the looming shadows of Nazism, the life of Hermann Hermann, a Russian emigrant and chocolate manufacturer, is an intriguing mix of chaos and monotony. Married to the impulsive Lydia, he is constantly at odds with his workers and fellow businessmen, losing his temper daily in the suffocating environment that he despises. This tumultuous state continues until Hermann meets Felix, a vagrant strikingly similar to him in appearance. This uncanny resemblance disturbs Hermann deeply as it not only raises questions about identity but also triggers his longing for a fresh start in the world that he views as false and oppressive. As a result, Hermann concocts an audacious plan to escape this deceptive reality, seeking solace in the idea of starting over with someone who shares his physical likeness. The film delves into themes of identity, self-discovery, and the complexities of human relationships set against the dark backdrop of a society spiraling towards totalitarianism.
