Cinématon is an unprecedented experimental film by Gérard Courant, spanning over 36 years and composed of 2,821 silent vignettes, each lasting exactly 3 minutes and 25 seconds. This groundbreaking project offers a unique perspective into the lives and routines of various celebrities, artists, journalists, and friends of the director, providing an intimate, unscripted glance into their worlds. Filmed between 1978 and 2006, Cinématon features diverse subjects such as directors Barbet Schroeder, Nagisa Oshima, and Terry Gilliam; chess grandmaster Joël Lautier; actors Roberto Benigni and Julie Delpy; and many more. Courant's personal favorite subject was a 7-month-old baby. The film was screened in its entirety in Avignon in November 2009, showcasing the director's vision of capturing ordinary moments in extraordinary ways. Cinématon transcends traditional storytelling and provides an unfiltered look at human life through a lens that refuses to look away.
