Arnie Cunningham, an awkward high school student with a penchant for nerdy hobbies, stumbles upon a forgotten 1958 Plymouth Fury that sparks his imagination and captures his heart. Igniting Arnie's passion for automobiles, he embarks on the meticulous task of restoring this rusty classic to its former glory. Unbeknownst to him, however, the car begins to undergo a transformation of its own, mirroring that of its owner as Arnie's confidence swells and his personality evolves.As Christine – the name he gives his prized possession – takes on a life of her own, so too does Arnie's character. His newfound arrogance behind the wheel threatens to drive away those closest to him, including his girlfriend Leigh and best friend Dennis. As their concern deepens, they attempt to intervene in Arnie's dark descent, only to be met with an ominous force that lies within Christine – a Fury like no other, and one that threatens to consume both man and machine.
