Ceasefire

In the aftermath of World War I, Georges Laffont is haunted by the atrocities he witnessed during the gruesome trench battles. Seeking solace from the memories that plague him, he embarks on a journey to Upper Volta in West Africa. Here, with the aid of Diofo, another war survivor and an artist, they attempt to rally the local villagers for labor positions in Ghana's thriving plantations. However, their ambitious endeavor proves fruitless and Laffont is forced to return to Paris, now more adrift than ever in his quest for identity and purpose. The film explores themes of post-traumatic stress, displacement, and the human struggle to find meaning amidst adversity, all set against the backdrop of early 20th century West Africa and Europe.
