American History X

The film follows Derek Vineyard's journey after serving three years in prison for a hate-fueled crime that left two African-American men dead. As told through his brother Danny's voiceover narration, we learn about Derek's previous life as the leader of a notorious Los Angeles white supremacist gang. With an intense focus on recruitment and violence, this organization played a pivotal role in shaping both Derek's actions and the trajectory of Danny's life. Upon his release from prison, Derek renounces his former beliefs and distance himself from the gang that once defined him. Now a changed man, he becomes committed to preventing Danny from falling into the same destructive patterns that consumed his own past.
