A Twig in the Wind

Varya Berezina, a recent high school graduate, finds herself caught between her parents' impending divorce and her grandmother's philosophical musings on life's purpose. Her steadfast friend Mishka, though genuinely affectionate towards Varka, struggles to understand the complexities of her situation. Forced to leave her home and head to the city due to unattained documents, she moves in with her sister who lives in a spacious apartment, shares a loving marriage, and has a dear family friend - neighbor Vissarion Arkadyevich. He is a well-regarded doctor with a caring nature and helps Varka secure entry into university despite her lack of documentation or knowledge. As Vissarion is later transferred to Leningrad, Varka returns to her village. Her life takes another turn when she finds employment in a hospital, allowing her to not only witness the work of her friend but also engage with a diverse group of people. This coming-of-age tale delves into themes of love, family, and personal growth as Varya navigates through life's challenges while discovering her own path.
