In the backdrop of rural Northeastern Brazil, we find João Grilo, a lively, charismatic man, and Chicó, an ingenious trickster, both struggling in poverty. Their mischievous ways lead them to swindle several unsuspecting inhabitants of a small town, further perpetuating their cycle of deceit and hardship. However, life after death takes on a whole new dimension when João Grilo and Chicó find themselves facing divine judgment by Christ, the Devil, and the Virgin Mary. Their lives are scrutinized, and they must confront the consequences of their actions as they navigate the intricate, celestial process of seeking entry into paradise.
